Here's a new picture from this past Saturday, the glass tile was installed by my handy brother, the Synesso is looking really good sitting on that green. The menu board was painted by us Friday night. The floor was stained today, and will be sealed tomorrow morning and Tuesday. It wasn't until everything was placed in/on the counters that Barb and I realized that the counter space is slightly limited. Everything looked so much bigger on paper, and once the sinks were popped in, man, we lost a good bit there. Oh well, we'll just have to get creative and make the bar area work somehow, we've already decided to install shelves. Overall, we're extremely pleased with the space and the forms, when all the lights are on, it is very beautiful and you certainly can't miss it when driving on Penn towards East Liberty. Now we just have to make sure everything gets in place before we open/train. Thanks to the City of Pittsburgh, we have ridiculously low water pressure, our RO system is getting 8 PSI, Whoo hoo! Needless to say, the Synesso is currently sitting empty. We'll most likely have to install some sort of booster pump, ASAP. This coming week is going to be crazy, as we're going to have to get in there and clean, organize and make sure all equipments are functioning properly. Barb and I haven't even pulled a shot of espresso in now over 3 weeks, might feel a little rusted when we're finally ready to roll. We also got our sign approved, and it's very cool indeed, should be installed in about 2-3 weeks after we open. The anticipation is building and we're having a little trouble sleeping, it is crunch time now! It's quite amazing all of the little things that must come together before we open, and we certainly hope that 2 more weeks will be enough. Today, was the last Sunday Barb and I got to truly enjoy ourselves, without any business worries, all we wanted to do was sit our asses down on the couch and watch some Steelers with a cold Rolling Rock. I went to grap the marinara sauce out of the fridge, the lid wasn't shut properly and the bowl fell out of my hands onto the floor, the walls, the ceiling, it hit all of the containers in the fridge, it was all over my jeans, shirt, hair and into my eyes... my eyes were actually crying marinara sauce. All we could do was laugh, because we're so exhausted and nothing seems to be working our way. So much for sitting down, we almost had to scrub down the entire kitchen. Oh well. Never a dull moment in our lives. Hope you all have Happy Holidays.
Amelie & Barb.
